About SwarovskiŽ Rhinestone Crystals

Genuine SwarovskiŽ Rhinestone Crystals: SwarovskiŽ is the luxury brand name for the range of precision-cut lead crystal glass products produced by companies owned by SwarovskiŽ AG of Feldmeilen, near Zürich, Switzerland. SwarovskiŽ crystal was born when Bohemian, Daniel SwarovskiŽ invented an automatic cutting machine in 1892. In 1895 the SwarovskiŽ company was founded when he established a crystal cutting factory in Wattens (near Innsbruck, Tyrol, Austria). Here he could take advantage of local hydroelectricity for the energy-intensive grinding processes he had patented. SwarovskiŽ crystal contains approximately 32% lead to maximize refraction. The SwarovskiŽ Crystal range includes crystal sculptures and miniatures, jewellery and couture, home decor, chandeliers, and beads and rhinestones for manufacturers and artists.

SwarovskiŽ rhinestones offer excellent cut, brilliance, and a very wide range of colors. SwarovskiŽ releases new colors every six months or so, and offers a great collection of "effect" colors. SwarovskiŽ rhinestones are made of lead crystal, and they are the rhinestones of choice due to their brilliance and unmatched light reflectivity! Recently, SwarovskiŽ came out with our newest line of crystals-the "Xilion Rose" cut with 14-facets! When you hear people referring to " Austrian Crystal" , it is SwarovskiŽ. (There is no such thing as an "Australian" or "Australian Crystal".) The color "Crystal" appears as that of diamond--clear and colorless. The term "Crystal AB" refers to the treatment applied to a "Crystal"rhinestones. The "AB" coating will cause the rhinestone to reflect all colors of the rainbow and the reflected colors will change as the stone moves. The same is true of colors AB (such as Rose AB) where the overriding color will be that of its name, but will reflect additional colors. The best analogy of AB is that of light reflected from an oil slick floating on water.

Colors of rhinestones:
CrystalCrystal: diamond-like, clear, no color, the rhinestone most often seen

FucshiaTransparent colors: Gem-like colors, often named after the gem they imitate, such as: Emerald (green), Peridot (lime green), Sapphire (royal blue), Amethyst (purple), etc. If the name has 'Light' before it, it is a paler version of the color.

Crystal ABColors AB: these stones are produced by adding an Aurora Borealis coating to the stone. The coating will cause a prismatic effect in light refraction, casting all colors of the rainbow, with the base color showing through. Crystal AB results when a 'Crystal' color has an AB coating applied. This stone will cast mild colors in all ranges. Lately, we like the colors AB of Preciosa better than those of Swarovski, the coatings are lighter on the Preciosa, and therefore, more of the stone's color shows through.

Fire OpalEffect Colors: Special colors produced by polarization of the glass and coatings, usually producing two or more different colors, depending upon how light is hitting the stone. Both Czech and Swarovski produce these stones. Both Preciosa and Swarovski produce gorgeous effect colors. Unfortunately, these stones tend to vary from lot to lot, some darker, some lighter.
